THE ART OF TATTOOS

The art of tattoo is as old as human civilization. The symbols of God and goddesses were made on different parts of body. Men, women and children like to have a decorative or religious sign on their body, believing that it would protect them from the evil spirit.

However there are religious beliefs among some groups of people that we should keep our body clean. But in the modern time, the tattoo lovers are in majority and they enjoy their freedom of having the tattoos of their choice. They get the tattoos inserted on chest, neck, shoulders, breasts, nipples, belly, thighs, legs and even on genitals.

It is needless to say that there are many positive beliefs, too, attached with tattoos. People also believe that having a tattoo on the body of a child would protect it from evil spirits.

WHERE THE TATTOOS INSERTED

The process of putting a tattoo involves placement of pigments onto the skin in order to make it a permanent mark on the body. After inserting, the pigments reach to the deeper layer of the skin in most of the cases and it makes a permanent like mark on the upper surface of the skin. However the permanency of the mark or the tattoo is dependent on the quality of the pigments used.

There are colours made of pigments which can be washed out after some days or hours. Such tattoos are preferred when they want it for festivals or competitions.

HOW THE TATTOOS ARE INSERTED

There are many methods by which tattoos are done. The tattoo artists would use his or her talents and instruments while doing the job. In modern time it is mainly inserted with the help of machine. In old time people used sharp needles and even thorns to get the skin cut and insert the pigments inside of it.

TYPES OF TATTOOS

There is no limit so far as the types of tattoos are concerned. People call it by various names like Religious tattoos, symbol tattoos. Or it can be nicknamed by the parts of the body on which it is done like Leg tattoos, breasts tattoos and chest and like that. If a lover of the tattoo art wants latest designs of the tattoos, he or she can get it easily from the market or by searching on internet.

DYES AND INK FOR TATTOOS

In past all the pigments were derived from natural resources like vegetables and the coloured stones. These materials were not harmful, too. Now a day the natural pigments are still in the use. But the synthetic colours are also used. These colours and inks are made from petroleum or other products.

While inserting a tattoo a person must know whether the ink is harmful to the skin or not.
